The training focuses on modelling the retaining wall on piled foundation that will be backfilled to support the construction of an additional railway track. The training will be particularly focusing on:

  • definition and setting up of the embedded beam row and corresponding properties for representing the volume piles underneath the wall (2D)
  • strategy to rigidly connect beam to solid with proper transfer of bending moment
  • equivalence 2D-3D for the piles and validation of the current 2D modelling approach
  • evaluating impact on existing building (differential settlement)

The training will first consist of a 15 minutes presentation focusing on the main PLAXIS features about to be used as well as a full model description. The presentation will then be followed by a 1h30 in depth live demonstration for building up PLAXIS 2D model including in-depth model results post-processing and interpretation as well as commenting PLAXIS 3D models and results. Finally a 15 minute question-answer session will be held.

After the Online Training session has been given, the training materials (pdf files of the powerpoint presentation, all elaborated PLAXIS model files using the latest commercial release only i.e. PLAXIS 2D 2017) will be prepared and distributed along with a link to the recorded video (available 3 months) and a summary of the Questions/Answers session.

Please use the participant email address for further correspondence.
