This Online Training will demonstrate the practical use of consolidation and the Soft Soil Creep model in PLAXIS and will use an embankment example.
A consolidation calculation is usually conducted when it is necessary to analyze the development and dissipation of excess pore pressures in a saturated clay-type soil as a function of time. The online training will cover the principles behind a consolidation calculation in PLAXIS, such as the basics of excess pore-pressure generation, time increment control, undrained soil behavior, and the Soft Soil Creep constitutive model – a model relevant to consolidation modeling. The Soft Soil Creep (SSC) model is characterized by stress-dependent stiffness, a distinction between primary loading and unloading-reloading, secondary time-dependent compression, aging of pre-consolidation stress, and failure behavior according to the Mohr-Coulomb criterion.
The online training will start with a presentation, followed by a live demonstration, and will conclude with a question-answer session. The live demonstration will include an example of the construction of an embankment while utilizing a consolidation calculation and the Soft Soil Creep model. Special attention will be given to parameters used and excess pore-pressure generation.
Note: PLAXIS 2D version 2019 will be used (PlaxFlow module is not required).
Upon receipt of payment, the training materials (pdf files of the presentation, all elaborated PLAXIS model files) will be distributed along with a link to the recorded video and a summary of the Questions/Answers session. All model-files will be provided for the latest PLAXIS commercial release (PLAXIS 2D 2019) only. The link to the recorded video will be available for three months.
