Introduction

This 2-days course focusses on the use of PLAXIS 2D for dynamics analysis in general with a particular interest for seismic analysis. The course gives a combination of theoretical and technical background information as well as modelling possibilities in PLAXIS and hands-on exercises. Be aware that for this course there is only a limited amount of 12 seats available.

Day 1
Introduction to dynamics, soil properties in dynamics analysis, damping, modelling dynamics problems in PLAXIS, boundary conditions

Day 2
Earthquake engineering using FEM, soil-structure interaction, modelling liquefaction, 1D-site response analysis

Lecturers
Prof. Juan Pestana Nascimento – University of California in Berkeley / Geosyntec consultants
Dennis Waterman, M.Sc. – Plaxis bv
