This workshop will focus on the material models and parameters in PLAXIS 2D and/or 3D. The main goal of this workshop is to give a deeper insight in material modelling with PLAXIS. Participants will be taught how to integrate correctly material information given from laboratory and in situ tests and define the model parameters within PLAXIS. Additionally, in this workshop important information and examples on the correct use of the Soil Test application will be offered.
On Material Models and Parameters in PLAXIS
During this workshop practical information on soil constitutive modelling will be discussed. In this workshop we will give a general overview of:
- Soil constitutive models in PLAXIS
- Modelling of undrained behaviour
- Laboratory tests (oedometer & triaxial) and in situ tests (CPT & SPT)
- Some useful correlations and practical rules for evaluating model parameters
Finally, participants will have the possibility to get deeper knowledge and perform exercises:
- On the use of the Soil test application to evaluate model parameters
- In a 2D analysis of a pressiometer test in PLAXIS
For solving practical problems the PLAXIS 2D 2017 computer program will be used. It is recommended, though not required, that participants already have experience with the PLAXIS 2D software.
The course starts with registration at 8:30. The program format consists of 4 lectures (approx. 45 mins each) and 2 exercises (approx. 90 mins. each) with full tutoring and discussion. The workshop will be completely in English. The organizers reserve the right to make any necessary amendments to the format or schedule.
