This workshop will focus on the material models and parameters in PLAXIS 2D and/or 3D. The main goal of this workshop is to give a deeper insight in material modelling with PLAXIS. Participants will be taught how to integrate correctly material information given from laboratory and in situ tests and define the model parameters within PLAXIS. Additionally, in this workshop important information and examples on the correct use of the Soil Test application will be offered.
Material models and Parameters in PLAXIS
During this workshop practical information on soil constitutive modelling will be discussed. In this workshop you will learn more about:
- Soil constitutive models in PLAXIS
- Modelling of undrained behaviour
- Laboratory tests (oedometer & triaxial) and in situ tests (CPT & SPT)
- Some useful correlations and practical rules for evaluating model parameters
Finally, participants will have the possibility to get deeper knowledge and perform exercises:
- On the use of the Soil test application to evaluate model parameters
- In a 2D analysis of a pressuremeter test in PLAXIS
For solving practical problems the PLAXIS 2D 2018 computer program will be used. It is recommended, though not required, that participants already have experience with the PLAXIS 2D software.
The workshop starts at 8:30. The program format consists of 4 lectures (approx. 45 mins each) and 2 exercises (approx. 90 mins each) with full tutoring and discussion. The workshop will be completely in English. The organisers reserve the right to make any necessary amendments to the format or schedule.
08.45-10.00 Overview of PLAXIS Soil Constitutive models
10.00-10.45 Laboratory tests (Oedometer test & Triaxial test)
11.00-12.30 Use of Soil test (lecture & exercise)
13.30-14.30 In situ tests (CPT & SPT)
14.30-15.15 In situ tests (PMT & DMT)
15.30-16.00 Day overview and conclusion
16.00-17.30 2D Analysis of a Pressuremeter test in PLAXIS (exercise)
The lecturers have a long time experience with the use of PLAXIS software. Besides giving courses they are also daily involved with the users through the Support Department.
The cost of the workshop is € 695. The cost includes lunch and refreshments. The course fee also includes a full set of instruction manuals and the use of a computer.
The course will be held at the Plaxis Office (Computerlaan 14, Delft, 2628 XK).
The total number of participants is limited to 22. Registration will be accepted in the order in which they will have been received. To register for the workshop, please complete the registration through our webshop. Our Terms & Conditions apply to this workshop.
This workshop will be held back-to-back with the Workshop on Slope Stability in 2D to be held the next day (5th of April 2019) in the same location. If you would like to attend both workshops then please register for each workshop separately.
