The main goal of this workshop is to teach the use and basic concepts of modelling dynamics in PLAXIS and to train the participants in using the software themselves. For solving practical problems the PLAXIS 2D 2019 computer program will be used. It is recommended, though not required, that participants already have experience with the PLAXIS 2D software.
During this day participants will become familiar with the different options that PLAXIS offers for modelling the dynamic boundary conditions as well as the possibilities offered to model single source vibrations and seismic analysis with the PLAXIS software. Furthermore,it is also possible to model soil response analysis. The participants will get acquainted with the use of PLAXIS 2D by doing hands on exercises. During these exercises individual assistance will be provided by experienced Plaxis tutors.
The course starts with registration at 8:45. The program format consists of three lectures (approx. 45 mins. each) and three exercises (approx. 75 mins. each) with full tutoring and discussion. The course will be completely in English. The organisers reserve the right to make any necessary amendments to the format or schedule.
09.00-09.45 Dynamic features in PLAXIS
09.45-11.00 Generator foundation in Plaxis (Exercise)
11.15-12.15 Boundary Conditions for dynamics
13.15-14.15 Building subject to an earthquake (exercise)
14.15-15.15 1D site response analysis
15.30-17.00 1D site response analysis (exercise)
The lecturers have a long time experience with the use of PLAXIS software. Besides giving courses they are also daily involved with the users through the Support Department.
The cost of the workshop is € 695. The cost includes lunch and refreshments. The course fee also includes a full set of instruction manuals and the use of a computer.
The course will be held at the Plaxis Office (Computerlaan 14, Delft, 2628 XK) or at the Westcord Hotel (Olof Palmestraat 2, 2616 LM Delft ).
The total number of participants is limited to 22. Registration will be accepted in the order in which they will have been received. To register for the workshop, please complete the registration through our webshop. Our Terms & Conditions apply to this workshop.
This workshop will be held back-to-back with the Workshop on Modelling undrained soil behaviour in PLAXIS to be held the following day (6th of June 2018) in the same location. If you would like to attend both workshops then please register for each workshop separately.
